Registration For Our Hackathon In Beijing Is Officially Open! The 2011 Beijing Hackathon Will Be in Chinese and English and We Will Have Simultaneous Translation and Translators on Site!
Registration is officially open for our Beijing Hackathon! Not only is this our fifth time hosting our incredibly popular Hackathon at TechCrunch Disrupt, it is our FIRST time hosting it overseas. The Hackathon has become an incredibly popular event where hackers from all over the world come together to build hacks of all kinds, from funny to useful, bizarre to wacky. No matter what kind of hacks are built, it’s always interesting and some might even change the world. In San Francisco, we had around 800 registrants for our last event, and this year we’re opening the Hackathon to 500 top developers in Beijing NOW.
The format remains the same – a little less than 24 hours to create a hack on site and present a working demo to an audience of developers, press and industry insiders. We promise delicious snacks and dinner, caffeine, and surprises to keep you awake, motivated, and determined as ever. If you’re a developer, you gotta be there.
The goal of these increasingly popular events isn’t just to build startups. We want to give developers their own platform to shine in. It’s that mixture of utility and whimsy that keeps the Hackathons, and our industry for that matter, fresh. Much of the field is built behind the scenes by the hard work of talented developers and Hackathons are the best way we’ve found to spotlight them.
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate everyone, so it’s best to register now to make sure you’re in! Knowing how the number 8 is considered lucky in China, we’re asking a nominal 88 RMB required to save your seat. The fee is just to curtail no-shows and we have many friends and sponsors offering fun and surprises throughout the night.
Want to learn more about the Beijing Hackathon? Make sure you check out what happened at our Disrupt SF Hackathon here. This is one hacking event you do not want to miss. You may even be asked to present on the Disrupt stage!
